Resumen
HIDALGO SALGADO, Rocío. Notes of an itinerary on research into dance. Cuicuilco [online]. 2011, vol.18, n.52, pp.71-88. ISSN 0185-1659.
Even though art is an important expression of our culture, anthropological studies on that topic aren't that common. Contemporary dance is not an exception, despite the fact that it has the human body as its primary source for expressing both artistic and aesthetic intentions. This article highlights the methodology and procedures used in qualitative research. Raul Parrao's creative process of his The kitsch(en) and the X (egg's) is used as an example of how to carry out such a work. Reflections on the usage of qualitative research are annotated to emphasise the thin borders between the subject and object of the research, resulting in the need to consider both as subjects, one being the witness; the other the witnessed. The ultimate goal of this work is to show the complexity of the qualitative method whilst demonstrating its effectiveness in the interpretation of cultural processes.
