Resumen
PEREZ HERNANDEZ, María del Pilar Monserrat. Innovation in the Mexican Manufacturing Industry. Inv. Econ [online]. 2008, vol.67, n.263, pp.131-162. ISSN 0185-1667.
This study uses the National Survey of Innovation 2001 for the Mexican manufacturing sector to carry out cluster analysis and find patterns of innovation. Seven clusters of companies are found in the Mexican manufacturing sector. An important presence of companies in the high technology sector is found in the more successful cluster and in the one with the greater effort. The close relationship between economic performance and the effort dedicated to innovation activities reported by the literature is verified. As a conclusion, it can be argued that the detection of innovation patterns must be a relevant factor in the design of policies and mechanisms to stimulate innovation activity, based on the recognition of a differentiated behavior of companies.
