Resumen

CAMACHO BALLESTA, José Antonio  y  MALDONADO ATENCIO, Alexander Alfonso. De la desindustrialización madura a la desindustrialización prematura: la dinámica e inflexión del debate teórico. Inv. Econ [online]. 2018, vol.77, n.303, pp.130-160. ISSN 0185-1667.

This article aims to provide a review of the economic literature of the phenomenon of deindustrialization as pattern of structural change in the global economy in recent decades. This analysis identifies that the deindustrialization can be the result of a successful and positive transformation or of a pathological and negative transformation of the economy. These are the two fundamental dimensions that determine the turning point of the phenomenon from the perspective of economic development: the mature deindustrialization, as a common trend of economic growth in the advanced countries and the premature deindustrialization, as a structural pattern of the developing countries. This distinction revives the debate on the difference between the determinants of deindustrialization between developed and developing countries and warns about global impact of rapid deindustrialization, which in fact has intensified over time and occurring increasingly earlier in the development process.
