This article discusses some aspects of Francisco Javier Alegre's thought (1729-1788), particularly his theological, scientific, philosophical and historical proposals. Much of the paper is devoted to analyzing elements of his monumental work, the Institutionum theologicarum, opus relatively understudied, as their seven volumes translation from Latin remains incomplete.
