Defined like an act of violence that occurred between two people in an intimate relationship characterized by love, whether married or not, crime of passion has social and legal meaning whose historical analysis in a long time, express both changes and continuities in gender relations, kinship and affective ties. This article focuses on these aspects in order to show representations, discourses, and legal practices about passionate homicide in Mexico city in 20th century. In addition, it demonstrates how the justice system reduced punishment for honour and passion reasons, and this way helped to keep the violence against women, and an inefficient and biased justice.
