MANCERA GONZALEZ, Omar. The codependencies of the agro industry on Sinaloa, Mexico. Perf. latinoam. [online]. 2023, vol.31, n.61, 00006. Epub 10-Jun-2024. ISSN 0188-7653. https://doi.org/10.18504/pl3161-006-2023.
The agriculture and hydraulic infrastructure in Sinaloa make up a binomial that generates codependencies, unequal wealth and irreversible harmfuls on human populations and the environment. This article illustrates how mass food production depends on a complex infrastructure headed by twelve dams and eight Irrigation Districts, and a production model focused on national and international markets. Through an ethnographic research a diagnosis is proposed that correlates those codependencies with the vulnerability of the populations, the health of the farmworkers, with the wear of the agricultural sector and with the impact on regional sea fishing.
