The degree of cation order of four columbite-tantalite from San Luis Range (Argentina) was evaluated from X-ray diffractometry and FTIR spectroscopy. Data were compared with those obtained by Mössbauer spectrometry. Based on structural evidences, a general assignment for the Nb/Ta-O₆ and Fe/Mn-O₆ octahedra internal vibrations is proposed.
