In this work experimental results of the effect of pressure and temperature on asphaltenes precipitation of Maya crude are reported. The experiments were done in a Parr reactor in a nitrogen atmosphere using n-heptane as solvent. The pressure was studied in the range of 15 to 25 kg/cm² and the temperature between 40 and 100°C, keeping a solvent/crude volumetric ratio of 5 to 1. Additionally, some tests with the traditional ASTM D-3279 method were carried out, which operates at atmospheric pressure. In this method the reflux time was varied up to 10 h. When comparing the amount and quality of asphaltenes it was found similarity with those obtained at atmospheric pressure and at 25 kg/cm² y 60°C.
