ANDUEZA, Isabel; AVILA, Gisela y ATTIAS, Doris. Influencia de la esterilización sobre el comportamiento reológico y pH de una dispersión isotónica de hidroxipropilmetilcelulosa. Rev. Soc. Quím. Méx [online]. 2004, vol.48, n.3, pp.220-224. ISSN 0583-7693.
Hydropropilmethylcellulose (HPMC), has many applications in ophthalmic preparations. In this contribution, the influence of the sterilization process by humid heat (121°C by 15 min) of an ophthalmologycal dispersion of hydropropilmethylcellulos at 2% 4000 cps were evaluated by the rheology properties and pH. The dispersion, before and after sterilizing, have pseudoplastic flux. This behavior not presenting differences among 72 h, 3,6,9 weeks and 4 month was observed. The no sterile dispersion at 4 month, had different behavior. The pH physiological stays once put under the sterilization process. In the process of elaboration and sterilization is necessary to consider two periods: First - To prepare the dispersion 24 hours before the filling. Second - To maintain in rest at least 72 hours, after sterilizing.
