KUMAR ACHARYA, Arun y SALAS STEVANATO, Adriana. Preference for male offspring and shortage of women in India. Pap. poblac [online]. 2006, vol.12, n.48, pp.205-225. ISSN 2448-7147.
The main objective of this study is to see how the gender preference in India is causing the disequilibrium in the gender ratio. According to 2001 census of India, nearly 35 million of women are missing compared to the total male population. This study also reflects how the gender preference is affecting the total fertility and mortality rate in India. Apart from this, the present research also tries to investigate the reason behind the gender preference in the Indian society.
