Resumen

GODINEZ-MONTOYA, Lucila; FIGUEROA-HERNANDEZ, Esther  y  PEREZ-SOTO, Francisco. Profitability private education in the State of Mexico. Pap. poblac [online]. 2016, vol.22, n.88, pp.263-290. ISSN 2448-7147.

The research was based on the theory of investment in education and investment in human capital. The private profitability of average education and educational levels in rural and urban areas of the State of Mexico, through the Mincer equation and Spline model, both for household heads male and female and regardless of sex were estimated. The method of Ordinary Least Squares (OLS) and the Statistical Analysis System (SAS) were used. The main results indicated that average rates estimated by Mincer model for rural Mexico State education profitability were higher than those obtained for urban areas. In the case of Spline models, indicating that increasing the level of education increases the monthly monetary income of the household head, the results showed that this behavior is only provided in the case of the urban areas, for heads of household female and heads of households regardless of sex, in which the rate of return for an additional year of primary education were 6.22 and 5.38 per cent, for high school were of 18.02 and 7.41 per cent, and for the university were of 20.21 and 44.07 per cent respectively.
