In this publication, a work by the prominent German Mayanist Heinrich Berlin that had not been fully visible since its first and only publication in Spanish in 1944 is made available to the interested public. It is a study of place names in the Tzeltal language. Berlin’s article is preceded by an introduction by the authors about the importance of this work in toponymic studies in Chiapas, an area little attended by academics.
