Resumen

NALLIM, Jorge A.. Anti-fascism, Revolution and Cold War in Mexico: América Magazine, 1940-1960. Latinoamérica [online]. 2020, n.70, pp.93-126.  Epub 07-Oct-2020. ISSN 2448-6914.  https://doi.org/10.22201/cialc.24486914e.2020.70.57164.

The article analyzes the magazine América in 1940-1960 as a privileged political and cultural space for studying national and transnational historical processes. It is based in an exhaustive and novel analysis of the material published in the magazine and complemented with Mexican and foreign primary and secondary sources. The article shows that América played a central role in an in intellectual and political network born out of the convergence of groups linked to the Mexican revolutionary state, the left, and the Spanish exile in Mexico. The analysis of América’s groups, ideas, and transformations allows the identification of relevant aspects, many of them original and unpublished, regarding the social, political, and ideological linkages of the contemporary Mexican cultural world, among them, the evolution from antifascism to anticommunism and the relationship between the Mexican state and intellectuals.
