Resumen
DELGADO WISE, Raúl; MARQUEZ COVARRUBIAS, Humberto y RODRIGUEZ RAMIREZ, Héctor. Organizaciones transnacionales de migrantes y desarrollo regional en Zacatecas. Migr. Inter [online]. 2004, vol.2, n.4, pp.159-181. ISSN 2594-0279.
The new century is witness to a paradox indicative of vast areas of Mexico. As a negative historical vestige that foreseeably is reaching its climax, international migration is growing at a dizzying pace. It is accompanied by disturbing trends in the regions of origin: fragility and lack of sustainability in productive structures and depopulation. In contrast, another side product of the historical process is also visible: the emergence of a social subject potentially capable of promoting development, which involves a transnational practice rooted in migrant organizations in the United states. This article covers both analytical aspects, taking as a point of reference the case of the area in Zacatecas that experiences intense migration.
