SOLIS LIZAMA, Mirian y FORTUNY LORET DE MOLA, Patricia. Otomí from Hidalgo and Yucatecan Maya: New Faces of Indigenous Migration and Old Forms of Organization. Migr. Inter [online]. 2010, vol.5, n.4, pp.101-138. ISSN 2594-0279.
This article focuses attention on a comparative analysis between Otomí from Hidalgo and Yucatec Maya migrants in the United States through a brief history of each ethnic group. Above all, it describes and explains the relationship between the ethnic groups and the Mexican state. Their histories, together with various factors, have influenced the way in which they have organized in the United States in order to send remittances to their places of origin. In analyzing and interpreting the social process studied, we consider the theoretical concept of ethnic identity as a central tool.
