The expansion of European Union will define its evolution as a world power center during the first half of present century. This article seeks the determine if its new dimension will allow the Union to turn into one of the world major figures. The author states that this will not happen in present decade, as the complete incorporation of new members will need a transition period during which the group of countries will have to look at the inside of the Union more than at its paper as a world leader.
