Resumen

JURADO MONTELONGO, Mario Alberto. Las formas de empleo en técnicos y profesionistas ubicados en la Zona Metropolitana de Monterrey (1994-2000). Región y sociedad [online]. 2002, vol.14, n.25, pp.63-108. ISSN 2448-4849.

Monterrey Metropolitan Zone (MMZ) has been known for being home to industrial groups with a great adaptability to change in the international market. The economic crisis of the 1980s not only led to reconsider the influence of the industry on the MMZ, but it also gave a new direction to labor careers in the different employment groups: because of the closing of Fundidora Monterrey more than six thousand workers lost their jobs, while the crisis of corporations such as ALFA, Vitro and others caused the unexpected dismissal of more than three thousand middle- and high-level management workers. These events were a reflection of a restructuring process in the labor market. Changes in the distribution of workforce enabled employers, both private and public, to have a greater reserve of workers at their disposal and possibly willing to accept new kinds of job flexibility, such as part-time job and temporary work. This paper inquires about the different aspects of this process concerning high-education workers.
