Resumen
ARELLANO GALVEZ, Ma. del Carmen. Violencia laboral contra jornaleras agrícolas en tres comunidades del noroeste de México. Región y sociedad [online]. 2014, vol.26, n.especial4, pp.155-187. ISSN 2448-4849.
The aim of this article is to analyze how violence against women is expressed in the work environment of agricultural laborers in three communities of Sinaloa, Sonora and Baja California. A qualitative methodology was used, including group interviews with female agricultural workers. According to our results, women working in agricultural fields recognize the violation of their working rights, such as not having medical services for themselves and their children, a lack of income for missing work when their children are sick, or less employment options when they are pregnant. They live harassed by males positioned in different labor hierarchies, but they are not passive in the face of violence, and instead design self-care strategies. Additionally, some women organize to advise other women about their labor rights and support them in the process of filing complaints and pursuing justice.
