Rev. cartogr. no.104 Ciudad de México ene./jun. 2022 Epub 28-Feb-2022
In 2019, a new era for the Revista Cartográfica began with the implementation of the Open Journal Systems (OJS) and the official opening of the Scientific Journals portal of the Pan American Institute of Geography and History (https://revistasipgh.org/). Also with this new era, a process of change, improvements and updating began for the Revista Cartográfica to comply with the multiple requirements demanded by indexes and databases to advance in indexing processes. After many changes, work and dedication, the Revista Cartográfica has been indexed in the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ) and in SciELO México. Both achievements are of great value, considering that they require compliance with quality standards associated with peer review, editorial quality control, compliance with good ethical practices, etc.
The indexing of Revista Cartográfica in the DOAJ has formalized its inclusion in the Open Access movement. Being indexed in this Directory is an indicator of quality and compliance with good ethical practices, also contributing to its visibility, promoting its greater use and impact.
Including Revista Cartográfica in the collection of academic journals of SciELO México has represented also an important milestone, demanding the fulfillment of multiple requirements. Among them, the publication of articles in XML format stands out, which entails more work in the production process and a significant expense for XML markup.
The achievements of Revista Cartográfica would not have been possible without the contribution of each of the participants from different places and roles to the publication of each issue. To the authors who trusted this journal as the scientific means to publish their research. To the article reviewers for their quiet and efficient work. To the invited editors who were responsible for the content of special issues. To the Editorial Committee that offers its support and knowledge. To the team of the PAIGH Publications Department, Guadalupe Romero and Vianney López, for their dedication and continuous support. A special thanks to the Secretary General of the PAIGH, César Rodríguez Tomeo, for the support provided during his tenure (2017-2021) to advance the visibility and steadily improvement of the journals.
Revista Cartográfica will continue working towards new achievements that contribute to the visibility and positioning of the journal in the scientific and academic sphere.
