FAUNDEZ-PINO, Luis F.. Healthy aging and salutogenic approach. Rev. Mex. med. familiar [online]. 2023, vol.10, n.1, pp.39-45. Epub 22-Mayo-2023. ISSN 2696-1296. https://doi.org/10.24875/rmf.22000090.
Background:
Salutogenesis is an effective strategy in promotion and prevention, linked to the recognition of health resources and assets, achieving favorable results in health care.
Objective:
To identify in the theoretical contributions emanating from scientific production the association between healthy aging and salutogenesis, as an opportunity for the understanding of the new conceptions of the natural aging process, as well as in the design of health promotion policies.
Material and methods:
A non-systematic literature review methodology was used, with a search in scientifically recognized databases.
Results:
Articles were analyzed that identified salutogenesis as an optimal and effective strategy in the promotion and prevention of the health of the elderly, in the physical, mental and spiritual dimensions, in accordance with the concept of healthy aging.
Conclusions:
The need to implement this strategy extensively in the design of social and health public policies is evident, allowing a comprehensive and intersectoral approach to the natural aging process, addressing the health needs of the elderly, especially in Primary Health Care, within the framework of the implementation of the Integrated Health Care Model.
