RAMIREZ, María Delfina y WALLACE, Robert Bruce. Social Accounting Matrix (SAM)for México, 1990. Inv. Econ [online]. 1999, vol.59, n.228, pp.15-43. ISSN 0185-1667.
This Social Accounting Matrix (SAM) for México, 1990, is based upon the RAS updated Mexican 1980 Income-Output Matrix and the 1989 INEGI Income-Expenditure Survey. Toe SAM includes the accounts corresponding to production, factoral production demand, the external sector, as well as the factor income and expenditure disaggregated into 6 social-economic groups (rural: wage earners, peasants, entrepreneurs; urban: wage earning workers, marginal income earners, entrepreneurs), distributed according to 15 aggregate economic activities. This SAM was conceived as the accounting framework for a Computable General Equilibrium Model whose object is to analyze the Mexican externa) sector liberalization impact on income distribution in Mexico. In spite of the fact that this SAM represents an initial stage in a broader research effort, the authors present it to interested readers as useful in its own right for multiple purposes.
