The present enlargement taken placed at the European Union represents an expansion without precedent. Its consequances will be felt in several areas of activity all over the Union. The reforms introduced by the candidate countries have anticipated a process of integration in Europe which will be intensified in the next few years. This article analyses the possible effects for the Spanish economy of the new trade flows resulting from enlargement.
