The document provides evidence on the size of the earnings gaps due to informality and on the influence of such gaps on poverty in Argentina. The analysis is made for 2005 and changes in gaps registered since 1993 are analysed. Models using OLS, quantile regressions and Propensity Scores Matching are employed. The estimated average gap is 30-45% of formal workers earnings, and it has been growing since 1993. Poverty incidence would fall by a third if the differences were eliminated.
