BOJORGES-BANOS, JC. Bird species richness in the Cacaluta river micro-basin, Oaxaca, Mexico. Universidad y ciencia [online]. 2011, vol.27, n.1, pp.87-95. ISSN 0186-2979.
The bird species richness in the Cacaluta river micro-basin, Oaxaca, is recorded including the results obtained during 33 days of sampling. We recorded 110 species of 40 families and 16 orders. Of these, 78 (71%) were resident and 32 (29%) migrants. Forty-five species were registered in all the sampling sites, whereas 16 were observed in only one. This inventory represents 37% of the richness reported previously, however, the recording of four species not found in previous studies is noted. This adds to the knowledge of the birds of this region in particular.
