Resumen
ANDRES-MEZA, Pablo et al. Conversion of maize lines to high protein quality. Universidad y ciencia [online]. 2013, vol.29, n.3, pp.317-323. ISSN 0186-2979.
During the Spring-Summer season of 2008, 32 inbred lines of normal high protein quality (HPQ) maize were planted in order to identify the best with respect to yield, lysine and tryptophan content, and agronomic traits. Outstanding with respect to yield and agronomic traits were the converted lines VS-536-960 and VS-536-959 and the normal line LT157-291. Lysine increased by 38% and tryptophan by 58%. This study continued with the conversion of lines to HPQ. The selected inbred lines may be used to form hybrids or synthetic varieties.
