CAUICH ALCALA, Gabriela Lizeth y HEREDIA SOBERANIS, Norma Graciella. Citizenship education in primary classrooms: A systematic review. Sinéctica [online]. 2023, n.60, e1421. Epub 26-Jun-2023. ISSN 2007-7033. https://doi.org/10.31391/s2007-7033(2023)0060-003.
The objective of this systematic review was to identify empirical trends on the promotion of a culture of peace through citizenship education. The work focused on elementary school teachers, specifically elementary school teachers. Articles were collected between the years 2005-2021, in the ERIC, Education Source, Academic Search Ultimate and Redalyc databases. From the use of the inclusion and exclusion criteria, 19 articles were analyzed. Research in which it was reported that teachers received training to foster citizenship in their students showed better results in the development of competencies related to the topic of study. It is concluded that a large part of the studies are oriented towards understanding the teacher’s perceptions about citizenship; on the other hand, the studies where some intervention methodology was addressed in the classroom contributed significantly to the development of skills for citizen coexistence.
