A one-dimensional approximate model is used to describe the reflectivity of a periodic system of long cylinders that are distributed to a square lattice. This structure is a typical case of a 2D photonic crystal. Dialectic material, semiconductors or metals can be done inside these cylinders. The dielectric function is described by the Drude equation. This one-dimensional model simplifies the calculation, which allows us to make analysis for different parameters and constituent materials. Moreover, the model have proven that it can reproduce the right experimental results in regions of frequencies near the photonic band gap. Reflectivity spectra are presented and discussed for the frequency higher or lower than the frequency of plasma, as well as the effects of the absorption.
