Resumen
CONWAY, Frederick James. Imaginando la Cuenca del Río Tijuana. Culturales [online]. 2010, vol.6, n.12, pp.75-96. ISSN 2448-539X.
The Tijuana River Watershed is located on both sides of the international border, three quarters in Mexico and one fourth in the United States. This landscape presents the people of both sides of the border with a common geographical and hydrological fate. The paper presents an analysis of three imaginings of the watershed produced by different organizations: a poster with satellite photography, a festival, and a video about the watershed. The analysis, in a political ecology theoretical framework, looks at what is present and absent in the images and the discourses that produced them. The paper concludes by proposing a binational project of ethnographic research, including interviews with various people on both sides of the border about their lives and visions of the watershed in its distinct sectors (mountains, agriculture, urban) and from diverse points of viewignominy.
