This article presents some basic arguments enabling an explanation of the development and dissemination of Pentecostalism in Latin America. It approaches the particular manifestations of this branch of Protestantism in the different contexts in which it establishes itself. This paper focuses specifically on the theological basis of Pentecostal doctrines in order to explain the ways in which social actors of different social and cultural contexts actively reshape and rework these confessions.
