Resumen

GASPERIN GASPERIN, Rafael Modesto  y  GARZA MARIN, Vanessa Viviana. Testimonios de Carlos Fuentes respecto a la globalización y los sistemas de creencias. En-clav. pen [online]. 2014, vol.8, n.16, pp.161-176. ISSN 2594-1100.

Will we have the capacity to develop an attitude of religious pluralism, which will allow, in the dawn of the 21st century, for a "new design" of the belief systems? The writer Carlos Fuentes made in his book "En esto creo", an interesting reflection on globalisation and xenophobia which help us approach this question to understand the overtones of the changes made in religions and their participation in this new global scenario.

Globalization appeared in the twentieth century as a modern uniform promise, that if not handled carefully would be dangerous -for humanity itself- considering the market economy. Certainly, there is an increased consumption of products, but these benefits do not reach to the less favored sector. Fuentes conditions the idea of globality to a functional locality, given that this "global fact" has not meant liberty and dignity to the transit among human beings relate each other.

The XXI century expectations are beyond the concept of free market and tolerance, the expectations are related to the detachment from an idea of a unique culture, a single narrative, a new human texture and the pursuit of a dream related to a plural complementary culture and multiculturalism.
