CERECED MERCADO, María Trinidad; TOPETE BARRERA, Carlos  y  ALVAREZ GARCIA, Isaías. The impact of the exercise of power in the process of school management in institutions of technological secondary education: case of the DGETI in the D.F. Investig. adm. [online]. 2005, vol.34, n.95, pp.39-60.  Epub 13-Mayo-2024. ISSN 2448-7678.

The overall purpose of this research is to analyze the effects that power exercise has in the top management processes carried out in medium-high educational centers in order to improve educational quality standard.

The field of this research is the top management processes and its power exercise. Both derive from two structures generated in the organization: formal and informal. The interaction of both structures through power exercise modulates the direction and leadership generated that has an impact on the outcomes obtained in relation to the educational quality standard.

A qualitative methodology was followed by interviewing the experts, directors, former directors and key actor who play an important role in the educational centers of study. These interviews were taped-recorded and transcribed.

Moreover the conceptual content was analyzed through software called Atlas TI, which enhanced a code abstraction and the construction of families. These two tasks were essential for setting up the nets that would constitute the explicative conceptual maps of power exercise and top management.

The main outcomes enlighten the informal processes given at the time of power exercise and therefore, typologies and modalities are set to explain the existing interrelation between power exercise and top management.

Palabras llave : Top School Management; Power Exercise; Formal Structure; Informal Structure; Organizational Complexity.
