This article presents the different origins of the photographs of Querétaro’s Indians. These photographs were made between the years 1850 and 1937, and mostly belong to the Otomí group. They show different aspects of the social and cultural process of the Otomíes in both urban and rural environments. In some cases these photographs match what academics have said before, since they were product of the collection of anthropological data, although the responses of the people shown were varied. There were cases in which the Otomíes themselves requested the photograph for their own use.
