LOEZA-LARA, Pedro Damián; RAMIREZ-SANCHEZ, Rubén Darío y ALLAR-SANCHEZ, Martha María. Old and new directions of agriculture in La Ciénaga de Chapala: Small agricultural producers of Cojumatlán de Régules, Michoacán. Estud. soc. Rev. aliment. contemp. desarro. reg. [online]. 2020, vol.30, n.55, e20888. Epub 06-Dic-2021. ISSN 2395-9169. https://doi.org/10.24836/es.v30i55.888.
Objective:
Analyze the effect of the agriculture transnationalization in small agricultural producers of the municipality of Cojumatlán de Régules, Michoacán.
Methodology:
We used the network methodology, which consisted in identifying key actors in the municipality, who led us to the location of the main actors of this research, recognized as small agricultural producers. This methodology included the application of qualitative interviews and meetings with these producers.
Results:
The gradual abandonment of small agricultural producers by the Mexican State stands out; these producers face an unfavorable environment, prone to transnationalized agribusiness, which requires investments inaccessible to their economic reality. The latter contributes to the emergence of new ruralities and the establishment of subsistence strategies by these agricultural producers in the municipality.
Limitations:
This article arises from a regional investigation that focused on the study of agroproductive problems faced by small agricultural producers, which does not analyze the similar problems of medium and large agricultural producers.
Conclusions:
The analysis of the inputs, obtained through documentary research and fieldwork, allows us to conclude that the lack of common land organization and inequality in production conditions, due to neoliberal globalization, causes small agricultural producers to venture into new crops, which allows them to survive and remain relevant in the agricultural activity of the municipality.
