This study analyzes the rhetoric resources used in the Popol Vuh to better understand the different ways of text transmission, the esthilistic relations between its narrative fragments, and its poetic language functionality. Versification and rhetoric resources (such as diphrasism, isotopies, and metaphors) will be further analyzed to clarify the oral symbolism in the K'iche' culture. Special emphasis will be given to the symbolic representations of nature and the man's relation with his natural context, which gives humanity an universal and sacred sense.
