VEGA VILLALOBOS, María Elena. La composición dinástica de Yaxchilán durante el reinado de Yaxuun B'ahlam IV. Estud. cult. maya [online]. 2008, vol.31, pp.17-44. ISSN 0185-2574.
Several researchers of the mayan Classical Period (300-900 A.D.) has increased knowledge on the study of the social and political organization of the cities by understanding the regional dynasties and its structures. By means of the several inscriptions registered on the way the ancient mayas narrated their relationship among the different "señoríos" or kingdoms we understand the way in which the power was distribuited. Nowadays we know that several characters, noble men, were mentioned in their history on texts not registered before. This paper deals on the specific and particular way in which the dynasties and their composition was stablished around the VII century B.C. The study of the kingship of Yaxuun B'ahlam IV (752-ca. 768 A.D.) facult us to understand the different characters acting in the political stage of the time, reinforced by the epigraphic analisis of the text preserved up to now. These noble men conformed the dynasty in the kingship of Yaxuun B'ahlam. The political structure they stablished represents a small account of the new political order that started to shatter and generalize in the Usumacinta region and other mayan cities.
