RAMIREZ RANCANO, Mario. La logística del ejército federal: 1881-1914. Estud. hist. mod. contemp. Mex [online]. 2008, n.36, pp.183-219. ISSN 0185-2620.

An unusual event took place in the midst of the Mexican Revolution. The so-called "federal army", prepared for war, was defeated by another army, the "revolutionary army" that emerged in the heat of the armed struggle. What happened? What went wrong? From our point of view, what failed was the military logistics implemented by Porfirio Díaz and maintained by Francisco I. Madero. When he came to power in February 1913, Victoriano Huerta attempted to redress the situation, but by that time, it was too late. He increased the size of the army and distributed it more rationally throughout the country, but the revolution had become uncontrollable. The generals, skilled in the art of war, were humiliated, suffering one defeat after another. For their part, the troops behaved unexpectedly. At the earliest opportunity, they deserted. Eventually, in August 1914, the federal army was defeated and subsequently dissolved.
