This article, which is about reason as the stage where educational policies are developped, starts with the revision of a project carried out by norwegian researchers in order to evaluate their own school systems. This evaluation was thought to provide a social administration and disciplinary system that would be able to produce liberty for all the children in the future. The article asks about the reason, or the rules that shape policies, and focuses on three aspects. First, the author considers the educational reform practices as models of social administration. The second section tackles with the "reason" system in the world of education as a principle that generates social inclusion and exclusion. In the third section, he makes a review of the difficulties that the actual research and evaluation have to face up when they try to reproduce the "reason" systems currently in force in their own construction.
