This article identifies and analyzes the views that students build during the first years of the degree in Sciences and Technology of the National University of Quilmes, with regard to the conditioners to their academic career. This first stage was built up in order to the initial analysis categories. The theoretical-methodological strategy was inscribed in a qualitative perspective of research. From the joint analysis of what the students expressed in round tables and surveys we can observe three dimensions in which we can classify the views and ways of feeling that students construct about the understanding of their own academic career. Some of those factors can be associated to the teachingprocess and other depend on external conditions. The former are most frequently referred. The second place is for the difficulties experienced by the students during their training in high school, whereas the socio-economical factors are barely mentioned.
