This article aims to present the work on Persius, written in México by Bartolomé Melgarejo, Professor at the First Cloister of the University of Mexico. Some examples are shown here of the commentaries he adds to his translation into Spanish of the Satires; in them we are able to appreciate moral teachings that emerge from the poet’s expositions, quite useful for society in 16th century.
