This essay focuses on the possibilities that the informatics applications provide for texts reading in a context of big data, or in other words in an infinite archive, which is a key issue for digital humanities. The central problem is to what extent an informatics application is able to read texts and to make them comprehensive for humans. In order to address this problem, it is necessary to consider three forms of reading directly relate with the digital turn: distant, fragmented, and collaborative. The analysis of these forms of reading involves broader questions about reading in the web and the dichotomy between the possibilities that the informatics applications and the empiric results of using computerized models in the study of culture.
