CONSTANT, Chloé. Abject Bodies and Disciplinary Power: Family and Workplace Violence Against Transgender Women in Mexico. Trace (Méx. DF) [online]. 2017, n.72, pp.56-74. ISSN 2007-2392. https://doi.org/10.22134/trace.72.2017.95.
This article analyzes some of the forms of gender violence exerted against Mexican transsexual women. Firstly, it examines the process of construction of transsexual bodies and identities, and the exercise of disciplinary power exerted against these bodies from the family institution. It highlights some of the consequences of this violence, such as early independence and migration to Mexico City. Subsequently, it reflects on the violence that affects these bodies in adulthood, particularly in the workplace, to try to understand the extent to which violence and disciplinary power represent a continuum that can be analyzed according to sociocultural, structural and individual factors.
