Pediatric prenatal consultation is not common in México, although it has benefits for physician, family and the future infant. It allows the beginning of a physician-family relationship to obtain medical information and identify possible risks in mother and infant newborn; it gives parents information on medical care in the delivery room and anticipates actions with parental involving in decisions when a high-risk is detected. Emotional support to mothers is given and it begins parental education in infants care.
