This article analyzes one of the gravest consequences of discrimination against homosexuals: hate crimes (or homophobic murders). The author's central point is that a significant part of Mexican society creates and recreates a homophobic culture, even to the extreme of violence and murder. This is how it explains phenomena of this kind, which this kind of society justifies. It also mentions the great diversity in figures and data about these homicides, and the grave consequences of negligent and negative judicial and legal practices, which classify homophobic murders as crimes of passion.
