PAIVA, Verónica. Housing Patterns and Forms of Habitat Production in a Buenos Aires Emergency Settlement: The Case of Sector 104, Villa 31 bis (2006-2014). Sociológica (Méx.) [online]. 2015, vol.30, n.85, pp.39-64. ISSN 2007-8358.
In the last 15 years, the number of people living in emergency dwellings (shantytowns or emergency villages) in the city of Buenos Aires has increased significantly. This article analyzes the case of Buenos Aires's Sector 104, Villa 31 bis as an example of the many new population centers created in recent years. Crossing biography and history, as proposed by Wright Mills in 1959, we analyze the causes that led the inhabitants to settle on this site, the mechanisms they used to gain access to the land, the role of social networks in building the habitat, and their previous residency trajectories.
