REA RODRIGUEZ, Rafael. Indigenous Movement and Alternate Hegemony: The Struggle of the Náyeri People in Defense of the San Pedro River. Sociológica (Méx.) [online]. 2020, vol.35, n.100, pp.137-170.  Epub 09-Mar-2021. ISSN 2007-8358.

This article presents a proposal for rethinking categories in the theory of hegemony using a Laclauian approach, identifying different general orientations in the processes of hegemonic articulation at the local-regional level. Using this approach, the author analyzes the participation of the Náyeri people in the Movement for the Defense of the San Pedro River in the Mexican state of Nayarit, testing the hypothesis that their fight to defend the river and their territory gradually develops a potential alternate hegemony centered on the link-up of the social forces that promote in the long term a model of collective regional autonomous well-being.

Palavras-chave : indigenous movement; Náyeri People; Las Cruces hydroelectric project; alternative hegemony.
