ARREOLA VERA, Leonardo Daniel. About Art Exhibitions: Simmel’s Contributions to the Study of the Public in Mexico City’s National Anthropology Museum. Sociológica (Méx.) [online]. 2020, vol.35, n.101, pp.337-352.  Epub 13-Set-2021. ISSN 2007-8358.

In order to contribute to the sociological study of museums, this article takes up six important points from Georg Simmel’s theory, particularly from his essay “On Art Exhibitions” (1890). In it, he describes his vision of how art was produced and consumed in Germany in the late nineteenth and the early twentieth centuries. In this article, the author analyzes Simmel’s contributions using the ethnographic findings of research carried out in Mexico City’s National Anthropology Museum, which looked into the opinion of 2018 and 2019 museum visitors about the indigenous.
