MILLAN VALENZUELA, Henio. The Fourth Transformation: Hegemonic Blocs and National Projects. Sociológica (Méx.) [online]. 2021, vol.36, n.102, pp.83-118.  Epub 13-Set-2021. ISSN 2007-8358.

The best way to understand the victory in Mexico of the National Regeneration Movement (Morena) is to frame it in the dispute for the nation that, since the 1960s, has been waged by reformist and neoliberal projects, both backed by different hegemonic blocs. And, though Morena was able to build a new bloc on which its political domination rests, that grouping has been unstable. This is because it is rooted in actors close to the ethics of the reformist project and the demand for democracy, while the new administration has structural commitments to the neoliberal project with its authoritarian predilections, putting its vocation for democracy in doubt.

Palavras-chave : national projects; hegemonic blocs; Morena; development; instability.
