The equation of the drawdown level of deep water wells provides useful information for the improvement and rehabilitation of the infrastructure of groundwater extraction. It is a basic tool to determine the hydraulic efficiency and the characteristics of the hydraulic response of deep water wells. Its graphical expression is known as the characteristic curve, which foresees the possibility of increasing pump rate, as well as the well stability or capacity to maintain the pump rate. There are several methodologies for obtaining the drawdown level equation for which, this work appeared with the objective of determining the best methodology in terms of its precision and facility of use for a study with six groundwater wells in the Main Aquifer of the Laguna Region. These wells operate with an average electromechanical efficiency of 40%, which is a value significantly low according to the minimum efficiency value recommended of 60% by the corresponding Mexican Official Norms. The results revealed that the better models to predict the drawdown pumping level were the polynomials, followed by that of Kasenow. The robustness statistics of models were checked by fitting statistic analysis using the student's hypothesis test greater than 90% of probability. Subsequently, and based on previous analysis, the characteristic curves hydraulic response of wells were determined, which defined stability of groundwater extraction from aquifer.
