SONI SOTO, Araceli. César Vallejo y la vanguardia literaria. Argumentos (Méx.) [online]. 2007, vol.20, n.55, pp.185-207. ISSN 0187-5795.

No doubt, Cesar Vallejo belongs to the Latin American avant-garde literary movement, which bloomed between the 1920s and 1930s. The poet wrote his second work, Trilce in 1922. It is considered one of most representative texts of the vanguard movement, for its radical change in the use of the form, not only compared with the literary environment of the time, but with his first work Los Heraldos Negros (The Black Heralds), a text with romanticism and modernism stamp. However, Trilce is not a consequence of the avant-garde movement. Instead, it traced the path the vanguard followed. This text is considered a unique aesthetic project that influenced Peru, and the rest of Latin America. Although, the text has belongings of the avant-garde movement, it has exceptional aspects on its own, such as the profound sense of the thematic used, which fusion Latin America, and native elements, with European influences.
