This paper presents an overview of what is understood by inquiry. We started with a brief historical introduction and then a short review of what is found in literature of what inquiry is. Next, we presented some teaching-learning strategies based on inquiry that have been developed and worked. Finally- it is shown where and who is doing inquiry in Mexico.
